Create Dormer By Polyline

Available in: Architectural

Use this command to insert a dormer in a roof.

Select the 'Create Dormer By Polyline' button Roof dormer and the following dialog box appears.

Here you can choose the type of dormer to create and select the desired dormer wall option, you can also set the dormer width, height and wall thickness.
One final option here is to set the height above eaves based on input in the drawing or by setting a specific height.

When you click on the OK button you can select a position in the drawing to place the roof dormer by moving the mouse, you will see a dynamic representation of how this action will complete if confirmed. Clicking on the left mouse button will confirm your selection.

If you click on the type of roof tab the dialog will change as below.

Here you can pick the type of roof to be created on the dormer along with setting the pitch, rafter thickness, eaves overhang and roof thickness.

If you click on the appearance tab the dialog will change as below.

Here you can override the roof and wall appearance by clicking on the corresponding Override check box.
Once override is selected you will then have the ability to alter the shading colour, transparency and texture for either the roof or the wall of the dormer.

If you click on the eaves detail tab the dialog will change as below.

Similarly to the Appearance tab hear you can override the default appearance of the eaves detail for the roof that you will be creating.

You can override either the Facia appearance or the Soffit appearance or both if you like.
You can also set the Width, Thickness and Overhang for the Facia and the Width, Thickness and Vertical Offset for the Soffit.

Finally if the roof type you have chosen has a gable end there will be a Gable Detail Tab visible in the control.
When you click on the Gable Detail tab in the dialog you will see the following controls.

Similarly to the Eaves Detail tab hear you can override the default appearance of the gable detail for the roof that you will be creating.

You can override either the Barge Board appearance or the Gable Soffit appearance or both if you like.
You can also set the Width, Thickness and Overhang for the Barge Board and the Width, Thickness and Vertical Offset for the Gable Soffit.
