The command creates by default a 'line' representation of the roof in the drawing plan view. Any parameters within the settings that relate to the 3rd or 'Z' axis are used in the creation of Elevations and in the 3D Viewer.
Select the 'Roof' button and the roof dialog box appears. This Dialog box has five tab pages, Gable, Hipped, Barn Hip, Lean to corner Hip, Lean to Gable, all of these are shown below.
Roof Thickness - The overall thickness of the roof construction. This value is then used in conjunction with several other values to calculate the ridge height.
Facia width - The facia width.
End overhang - The overhang value to be applied to the roof ends
Side overhang - The overhang value to be applied to the roof sides
The following table lists the other roof parameters and which roof types use them.

Once all of the settings are correct click OK, the dialog box closes. The insertion procedure for Gable, Hipped and Barn Hip roofs is the same as follows.
In the example below the roof to be constructed is shown in green dashed line type.
The prompt reads:
Indicate wall that roof will be on:
Indicate one of the walls ( at P1 above) on which the roof will be built. Select the required wall and the prompt reads:
Indicate first corner for width of building:
Indicate the first point (P2) that defines the width of the gable/Hip using any of the snaps and input options, the prompt reads:
Indicate second corner for width of building:
Indicate the second point (P3) that defines the width of the gable/Hip using any of the snaps and input options, the prompt reads:
Indicate corner for length of building, or [T]ee to join to existing roof:
Indicate a point (P4) that defines the length of the roof using any of the snaps and input options.
To tee in a roof the procedure is as above apart from the last prompt, instead of indicating the point for the roof length just press the key (you don't need to press enter as well) and in indicate the roof line (P1 below) of the roof to tee into.
In the example below the roof to be constructed is shown in green dashed line type, the existing roof is blue.
There are only 2 differences when inserting the lean to type roofs is as follows.
1/ The 2nd prompt 'Indicate first corner for width of building:' changes to ' Indicate outer corner of building:' . This point is still defining the width but it also defines the slope direction i.e. the slope toward the outside of the building.
2/ There is no option when indicating the roof length on the final prompt to Tee into an existing roof.
