ADT Toolbox - Full Details
(Click on the buttons below to view the various dialog boxes. Double-click
on the dialog boxes to close)
ADT Toolbox delivers a new interface to many areas of ADT, thereby simplifying the
process of Door, Window, Wall and End cap style creation. Styles generated by ADT
Toolbox are fully editable with standard ADT commands. Many ADT Toolbox commands
are controlled by a single, uncluttered, intuitive dialog box, with clear images
that reflect the selections and inputs you make. For example, the creation of Wall
Styles, including cavity wall styles, couldn't be easier as the dialog box guides
you through this previously complex process. Similarly the creation of Wall End
Cap styles is now a much simplified and streamlined operation.
The level of realism achievable in 3D models produced by ADT can impress your clients.
ADT Toolbox will help give you the edge on your competition by giving you the ability
to easily create realistic window and door styles, add quoining to wall openings
or wall ends, or display detailed profiles on cladded walls. In all cases the interface
displays clearly the options available, and you control the various settings and
dimensional parameters to create the required features or styles.
ADT Toolbox also simplifies the detailing process with its Automatic Building Sections
and Timber Framing, which are simple to use and significantly reduce this time consuming
process. In addition ADT Toolbox can drastically reduce this burden with a suite
of parametric functions covering a wide range of 2D plan and elevation details.
Wall Styles - now you're in control
Three easy-to-use functions in ADT Toolbox allow you to control External, Internal
and Cladded wall styles. ADT Toolbox automatically generates a logical name for
your wall style based on the options and parameters set, although equally you are
free to insert your preferred title. All of the wall component colours are user-definable
and the hatching is configured automatically. You can also specify the wall base
line as being either the left or right structural face, and include below DPC detail.
Each of the wall styles allows you to define each wall component as Brick, Block,
Stone, Stud, etc. and its size, and has options to add finishes to either side of
the wall. Foundation detail can now be added to the wall style with control over
the overall depth of trench, depth to top of footing, DPC height, width of footing,
and its position.
Cladded wall styles have additional parameters for specifying the Cladding Thickness,
Base Height, Offset and a value to identify the Masonry Height.

Wall End Caps you define with ease
Wall end caps at both openings and wall ends can be easily defined using a simple
and intuitive dialogue box. For both Cavity and Single external walls, you can create
the End cap style, which can contain sizes for the Projection and Reveal, as well
as any Splay dimensions. A Cavity wall also has an option for Block Return or Thermal
Break.

Window Styles - the choice is yours
The flexibility of window style creation in ADT Toolbox means that almost any design
can be produced quickly and easily. Window design types include: - Bow, Bay, Arched
and a selection of casement window types with multiple opening combinations.
Windows
Window style configuration is controlled with a simple dialog box, allowing you
to enter the Jamb, Sill, Mullion and Structural Opening dimensions. As with the
wall styles, a unique and logical style name is created based upon the options and
parameters set, although this can be manually overwritten. The window style automatically
generated by ADT Toolbox includes the plan, elevation and 3D details so that it
is represented correctly in all views.
Door Styles - take your pick
Now you can create the door style you want in ADT. ADT Toolbox gives you control
over the door type, design and dimensions, allowing you to produce virtually any
variation of a common style.
The simple door style dialog box offers a combination of types and designs. Types
include:- Single, Double, Garage, Sliding, Roll-up, Shopfront, etc. Designs include:-
Panel with various Lights, French, Louvre, Georgian, Two Panel, etc. This dialog
box also controls the sizes of the Jamb, Threshold, Stop, Leaf and Structural Opening
of the chosen door style.
Doors
Again, a unique and logical style name is devised based upon the options and parameters
set: this can be overwritten if required. ADT Toolbox automatically produces the
door style with the necessary plan, elevation and 3D details so that all views will
be displayed correctly.
Add true Cladded Profiles to your walls
Visually enhance your design by applying detailed 3D cladding profile, either horizontally
or vertically, to the specified wall component. 3D cladding can be applied to any
ADT wall; you simply select the wall, and from the dialogue choose the style of
cladding and the wall component that the cladding profile is to be applied to. A
number of predefined cladding profiles are included, and the dialogue box has the
flexibility to let you create your own.
Cladded Profiles
Create and Schedule Timber Framing in Walls in seconds
Automatically add detailed stud partitioning to any wall. This powerful feature
will create vertical and horizontal studding along a selected wall including framing
around openings, with options for king studs and multiple vertical bracing. The
dialogue box interface includes many options for the studding layout giving complete
control over the design.
Timber Framing
You can also add single stud members where additional studs or noggins are required.
Single Stud Members
A Bill of Materials can also generated automatically for the studwork,
listing the sizes and the quantities, which can be exported to an external file
for further processing, or placed on the drawing as a table.
3D Trusses that are fully parametric
Create full 3D trusses from a standard library of truss styles. This is an extension
to the standard 2D parametric trusses already included in ADT Toolbox, allowing
you to define all the relative sizes and angles of the members which make up a particular
style of truss, such as rafter size, pitch, span, etc. Once that is done, simply
enter the number of trusses to be inserted and give the two points on the drawing,
the trusses are then added to the model, equi-spaced between these points.
3D Trusses
As with 2D trusses, the 3D trusses are editable with the modify command returning
to the original dialogue box allowing the style or any of the parameters to be altered.
Automatic Building Sections
Quickly generate detailed 2D building sections through ADT Toolbox Walls, including
sections for doors, windows and the footing details. Using the enhanced modular
building sections in Version 2, this tool constructs a complete wall section automatically
by simply selecting the wall, door or window where the section is required. Once
created, the components of the section remain editable using the Toolbox Modify
command, thus updating the section drawing, giving total flexibility in the creation
of 2D sections.
Decorative Detailing to Walls and Openings
To increase the detail and realism of your design, 3D architectural detailing of
stonework can be applied to wall ends. You can define the sizes of the quoining
members (width, depth and height) and the overall height, the detail is then applied
to the end or corner of the selected wall.
Quoining to Wall Ends
To further enhance your design, architectural stonework detailing
can also be placed around wall openings. Included within this feature are options
to show vertical quoining on the sides of the opening and decorative sloping sill/threshold
and lintel details.
Quoining, Lintels and Sills for Doors and Windows
A separate tool also allows just a Lintel to be added to a Door or Window.
Add 3D Lintel
A further tool allows you to add a sill to a window or a threshold to a door.
2D Detailing - ADT Toolbox saves you time
ADT Toolbox has an extensive library of 2D construction details so you can finish
detailing your designs with a minimum of fuss. The library contains parametric symbols
for the Foundations, DPC, Floor Structure, Walls, Sills, Headers, Doors, Windows,
Roof Trusses and Tiles, and Fascias. You can use these to build a single or multi-storey
building section in stages or select from a choice of standard pre-assembled modules.
2D parametric Structural Steel details for construction and fabrication are standard
in ADT Toolbox, including: - Portal Frame assemblies, Base Plate and Foundation
Pads, Universal Beams, Universal Columns, Joists, Equal and Unequal Angles, Channels,
Sections and Tees.
In addition, ADT Toolbox includes hundreds of symbols covering Landscape, Signage,
Plumbing, Heating, Furniture, Electrical and Kitchen fittings, to help you add further
detail to your designs. The majority are not just blocks that have to be stretched
and scaled to the correct size, but are intelligent parametric symbols. This means
that you can define the key dimensions and the symbol is automatically and instantly
drawn to the size you require.
2D to 3D and back again
Now you can take 2D drawings into ADT and automatically create an ADT Model. Any
2D drawings produced using CADlogic's powerful AutoCAD/LT modules; LT Architect
and Architect 2000, can be converted directly by ADT Toolbox into a 3D ADT Model.
Similarly, an ADT Model generated using ADT Toolbox can be converted to an intelligent
LT Architect/Architect 2000 drawing, allowing detailing of the building design to
be carried out within AutoCAD or LT.
